Alleged wife, mistress respond to viral kissing cop video

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. (WJLA) — A woman claiming to be the wife of a suspended police officer in Maryland is speaking out after a viral video showed the uniformed officer embracing another woman in the parking lot of a park.
In the video of Prince George’s County Officer Francesco Marlett, which now has millions of views, children can be heard playing in the background.
After an embrace, Officer Marlett and the woman climb into the back seat of the marked police car and disappear behind heavily tinted windows.

The person who posted the video told WJLA they were in the car for a while.
"30 minutes went by,” the person said. “It started getting dark that’s when she literally just got out the truck and went about her way.”
Now, two people, one claiming to be Marlett’s wife and one claiming to be the woman in the video, are speaking out.
The purported wife texted WJLA Reporter Brad Bell calling the woman in the video her husband’s mistress.
She then posted on social media calling the incident embarrassing and painful and saying they’ve been doing this behind her back for years.
The person claiming to be the woman in the video then replied on social media saying the wife cheats on the husband and telling the wife not to be mad at her because “your husband wants me.”
As for the man in the middle, Officer Marlett has been suspended and his history is raising questions.
Though charges were eventually dropped, and his record expunged, Officer Marlett was indicted in 2016 on child abuse charges.
Earlier in 2023, he was also suspended for a month in relation to domestic violence charges.
WJLA requested Officer Marlett’s discipline record under a 2-year-old law which makes that a matter of public record. WJLA asked police if Officer Marlett will be facing any additional disciplinary action now that he’s been suspended for a second time this year.
According to a statement from the Prince George's County Police Department, an internal investigation was opened and Officer Martlett was suspended Tuesday after the department became aware of the video.
The department shared an update on the internal investigation into Officer Marlett Wednesday, saying in a statement "As part of its investigation, the Internal Affairs Division is attempting to interview all parties involved as well as citizens with knowledge of the interactions."
In the statement, officials say once the investigation is complete the Administrative Charging Committee will recommend potential disciplinary actions to Chief Aziz. According to the statement, this is standard protocol in all internal affairs investigations.
"I know the officer's actions seen on these videos have sparked a range of emotions in the community and put a negative spotlight on this agency and the many hard-working women and men who wear our uniform," Chief Aziz said. "I expect every officer to conduct themselves in a way that will not dishonor this agency or this county. I assure the residents of Prince George's County I take this matter extremely seriously."
WJLA also asked police how Officer Marlett was disciplined when indicted in 2016.
In a statement, police officials said in 2016 a previous administration internally disciplined Officer Marlett on charges of child abuse and assault.
According to the statement, Officer Marlett was removed from the next promotional cycle and fined $1,500 for his conduct.
In regards to his month-long suspension in 2023, police officials said a hearing was held in Charles County, and following an internal investigation, the allegations of domestic violence were ruled unfounded.
