College Republicans flamed for demanding Trump verdict be 'respected'

WASHINGTON (TND) — College Republicans, a group representing right-leaning college students nationwide, was sharply rebuked on social media Thursday after asserting the ruling in former President Donald Trump’s hush money case “should be respected.”
A Manhattan jury found the former president guilty on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records Thursday. The Trump campaign later that day reported earning a record $34.8 million across all small donors following the verdict.
Reacting to the ruling, College Republicans urged its followers on X to honor the legal process behind the decision.

Just like the decision of voters on November 5th.”The post drew backlash from conservatives across the social media platform.
“I’m sorry, but this is a horrendously bad take,” Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., said. “The verdict should be condemned as a stain on our nation and our justice system. It was the outgrowth of a rigged, corrupt process.”
“Consider this my resignation from the Executive Board of this feckless organization,” College Republicans Western Regional Vice Chair Nick Dokoozlian said. “Not that the CRNC was active, but I have no interest in having my name associated with this group."

“WE ARE proud to have ZERO AFFILIATION with the @CRNC,” Penn State College Republicans touted. “This statement is entirely out of step with our organization, @PACRfederation, and any other College Republican group across the United States.”
The post also drew outrage from Trump advisor Chris LaCivita, who wrote "opinions are like a------- ...everyone has one..."
