UNDATED (WKRC) - A controversial former NFL star is nearly $3 million in debt, claiming to have $50,000 or less in assets in a recent bankruptcy filing.

According to The New York Post, Antonio Brown filed for federal bankruptcy in Florida Monday. Per the publication, citing a report from Times Union, Brown owes approximately $3 million to eight creditors.

Brown took to X and wrote "I'm broke," also adding a Cash App QR code , per The Post.

Brown is reportedly unable to pay at least three six-figure civil judgements, including a $1.2 million award to Anton Tumanov, a truck driver who Brown reportedly assaulted. Per The Post, the 35-year-old claims to have $50,000 or less in assets, owing hundreds of thousands of dollars in credit card debt, as well as $296 to a plumber.

During his 12-year NFL career, Brown made $80.7 million, according to the publication, citing information from Spotrac. In April of 2023, Brown took ownership of professional indoor football team Albany Empire. The club was kicked out of the league three months later in June, however. Brown was accused of failing to pay operating costs to the National Arena League, and players and coaches threatened to sue Brown after he allegedly removed their final-game paychecks from their bank accounts, according to Bleacher Report.

Brown last played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers back in 2021, when he abruptly stripped off his uniform and left in the middle of a game at MetLife Stadium. He was arrested back in October of 2023 for allegedly missing child support payments, per The Post.
