DuBois man convicted of statutory sexual assault faces additional child rape charges
SANDY TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WJAC) — Police say a man already serving a jail sentence for sexually assaulting a young girl faces additional felony child rape charges after a second victim came forward.
According to a criminal complaint, Sandy Township police say they were notified of allegations of child sex abuse in July 2019. Police say the victim, a 14-year-old girl, told authorities a man had inappropriately touched and had sex with her over the course of four years.
The complaint states the victim identified the suspect as 31-year-old Edward Boyd. The victim told authorities Boyd had raped her from the time she was 8 years old to 12 years old.
According to the complaint, the alleged assaults took place at Boyd's Sandy Township apartment.
The victim also told authorities that Boyd had been sexually assaulting her friend during the same time period she was being assaulted, according to the complaint.
Police say they interviewed Boyd in March 2020, where he admitted to assaulting both girls and being arrested and charged with statutory sexual assault involving one of the victims.
When police asked Boyd how many times he assaulted the latest victim, he replied, "I'd say 40 times." According to the complaint, Boyd blamed his addiction to crystal meth as to why he assaulted the girl.
Court documents show Boyd has been jailed at SCI Laurel Highlands since his 2019 conviction. He now faces an additional 200 felony counts of various child rape and assault charges.
