Fire destroys Hardee's restaurant in Breezewood

BEDFORD COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — A fire destroyed the Hardee's restaurant in Breezewood Saturday.

Breezewood Volunteer Fire Department Chief Toby Colledge said the broiler caught fire, and flames went through the ventilation equipment and up to the roof.

Colledge said by the time enough manpower was able to arrive on the scene, much of the roof was already ablaze. It took about an hour to get the fire under control, and crews were on scene for several hours putting out hot spots.

A state police fire marshall was on scene investigating, but Colledge said the building's owner told him the ventilation fan was running without the proper cover being in place.

No injuries were reported. The building is likely a total loss, Colledge said.
