Man arrested for 2016 murder of Centre Co. woman brought back to Pa, court docs show
CENTRE CO, Pa (WJAC) — According to court documents, the man arrested earlier this month for the murder of a Centre County woman in 2016 has been brought back to Pennsylvania.
Officials say 35-year-old Christopher Kowalski, who was arrested in South Carolina for the murder of Jean Tuggy, was jailed in Centre County Prison Saturday.
Authorities arrested Kowalski in early February in South Carolina, after he confessed to her murder.
Investigators say Kowalski shot Tuggy in her Pine Grove Mills home with a 9mm pistol, which authorities were able to track down and link to him.
Kowalski's bail has been denied and his preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 8th.
Following Kowalski's arrest earlier this month, Attorney General Josh Shapiro released the following statement:
Jean died more than five years ago, and her family has not had closure since,” said AG Josh Shapiro. “Thanks to the diligent efforts of our lawyers, investigators, and fellow members of law enforcement who never gave up on this case, the arrest of Christopher Kowalski is the first step toward putting her murderer behind bars. The Tuggy family has waited too long for justice, but we hope this news helps them heal.ncG1vNJzZmivmpawtcKNnKamZ56axLR7y6iamqRfoq6vecCrqZ6rpJqxbrLOq2RraGFreq7B0Z2cq2Wfm3qksc2tqZ5lk6R6uLvMmqVmmqKkwqi002aZmpubYsGwec%2BaZJynpafBbrDOnKpmq5ikxA%3D%3D
