New building at Windber Rec will help support park's summer day camp program

Windber, PA (WJAC) — Work is being completed on a new building at Windber Recreational Park that will help support the park's summer day camp, as well as other fundraisers and programs.
The day camp is a ten-week program, for children ages five through twelve, where kids can spend the day doing crafts, swimming and other activities.
Organizers say the idea for the building came up a few years ago when the borough got grant money for the dance hall,
Matt Grohal, the recreational director for Windber Rec Park and community building, says the day camp is a big fundraiser for the park and that the building will help keep them up and running.
Grohal says the number of children in the camp has increased with the addition of the facility.
"We're full, we cap it at 100 kids a day, and they pay to come here, and we have a different theme week every week, and they do crafts and things and spend a couple of hours in the pool every day. It's great for our community."
The park also rents out space for parties and other events.
