PA State Police Corporal arrested, accused of stealing heroin from evidence room
Dauphin County, PA — Pennsylvania State Police Corporal Brian Rickard was charged Friday after being accused of stealing heroin from the Troop R, Honesdale evidence room, ingesting it while at work and home, and using work computers and programs to cover up the thefts, officials say.
Police say Rickard is facing a number of charges including, Obstructing administration of law or other governmental function, tampering with records or identification, and acquisition or obtaining possession of controlled substance by misrepresentation, among other charges.
The Pennsylvania State Police say Rickard enlisted with the PSP in November of 2003.
He is assigned to the Troop R, Honesdale Criminal Investigation Unit as a supervisor.
Corporal Rickard has been suspended without pay under the Governor’s Code of Conduct and the Confidence In Law Enforcement Act, according to police.
