State College man sentenced to max of 3 years in jail for causing fatal hit-and-run

Centre Co., PA (WJAC) — Authorities in Centre County say a State College man has been sentenced for his role in a fatal hit-and-run crash near Millheim in April of 2020.
Court authorities say Christopher Hort has been sentenced to serve 363 days to 3 years in county jail for hitting and killing 23-year-old John David King, who was riding a scooter along the roadside.
Troopers say Hort initially told investigators that he thought he hit a deer and didn't stop because he thought he had a flat tire and was concerned with cell service in the area.
Hort pleaded guilty to causing the crash in March.
